Ken Dust

Ken gives much credit for his early interest in art to his parents who provided him with his first microscope as a Christmas present.  “I couldn’t find enough objects to study.  Insects, feathers, flowers, twigs – everything that defined texture, color, symmetry and shape.” Tutored by the Sisters of Notre Dame at the age of nine, Ken learned to handle charcoal and oil as well as mixing pallet colors.  After college and a career in engineering, advanced classes in color theory and composition have become Ken’s major areas of study.  Rich in life forms, Ken’s work reveals not just the fine details, but also the inherent form found in the natural world. A member of numerous arts organizations, Ken’s work has won many awards and has been displayed in such prestigious shows as the Audubon Artists, North American Wildlife Exhibition, Tucson Zoological Society show and Tucson Botanical Gardens exhibitions.
