Ruri

Ruri has been working with clay over 30 years.  Her work has been constantly evolving from one stage to the next.  For the past 17 years she has been focused on clay sculpture using coiling technique.  She designed ana-nobori kiln (named FuuKooGama, meaning Wind and Light Kiln), and had it built in 2004.  This was a long awaited project to pursue her goal of yakishime yohen (high fired, unglazed, solely relied on the special effects coming from pure interaction of clay, flame, and wood ash.
