His paintings are heavily layered acrylic. The dramatic yet subtle compositions and sense of color and light in his work are influenced directly by the way he chooses to experience nature. His entire life, he's sought drama and beauty on the fringes of outdoor recreation. As a paraglider pilot, he's experienced the landscape from a uniquely abstract perspective and as a climber he's studied the play of light from places such as El Capitan in Yosemite. These activities influence what he paints passionately--reflecting the same captivating light and color he finds in the outside world and drawing them into the layers of acrylic within his paintings.
