David Wiley
"My art is, in a sense, reactionary," says multi media painter David Wiley. "It is a reaction in part to the too often contrived avant-gardism which currently innundates the world of supposedly serious art." Wiley's works, inspired by Spanish streets and other sunny scenes, display elements of many "isms" -- Fauvism, Impressionism and Primitivism -- "whatever I may feel compelled to draw upon." A graduate of the University of Kansas, the artist studied at Mexico City College and with Spanish artist Ignacio Belen in Barcelona. Wiley works have found receptive audiences in France as well as at home in California. He has also seen the publication of two books of poetry, "The Face of Creation" and "Designs for a Utopian Zoo."
